Product Design Intern (UX & UI)

2 months · Extension possible based on performance

Help bring design craft to every screen Chiblu ships — across marketplace, mobile apps, and AI workflows.

About Chiblu

Chiblu is India's marketplace for makers — small businesses, artists, and craft brands selling directly to buyers.

About the role

We're growing fast, and design has been the single biggest gap on the team. Today, every screen — buyer flows, seller dashboard, mobile apps, marketing pages — has been built by engineers making judgment calls without a designer in the room. We're looking for a sharp, curious design intern to start fixing this.

You'll work across Chiblu's full product surface — buyer and seller experiences on the marketplace and mobile apps, plus the design of how we use AI agents in our day-to-day operations.

This is a hands-on role with direct founder access, real ownership of what gets shipped, and a possible path to a longer engagement if it works out. If you've got taste, hunger, and care about Indian users — read on.

What you'll do

  • Design end-to-end product experiences across web and mobile
  • Run user research and turn insights into shipped designs
  • Build and maintain our design system in Figma
  • Work directly with the founder on prioritization and trade-offs

Must have

  • Portfolio link (Behance, Dribbble, personal site, Notion — anywhere) with at least 3 real projects showing end-to-end thinking
  • Figma proficiency
  • Clear design thinking — you can articulate WHY behind decisions, not just WHAT
  • Visual taste / craft — typography, color, hierarchy, attention to detail
  • Strong communication skills — you'll explain decisions to non-designers daily
  • Ownership mindset — you figure things out; you don't wait to be told what to do

Nice to have

  • Indian craft / D2C / marketplace context — designs informed by Indian users, not just Western SaaS patterns
  • Design system experience — tokens, component libraries, naming conventions
  • A personal site you built yourself (ideally designed yourself too)

Portfolio expectations

Show us:

  • At least one end-to-end project (problem → research → design → final outcome)
  • A mobile app flow (even just screen-by-screen mockups)
  • Something that demonstrates your visual taste — typography, color, hierarchy
  • Bonus: anything designed for an Indian audience or a real shipped product (not just school assignments)

What you'll learn

  • Designing for India's diverse user base — low-end Android, multiple languages, slow internet, payment friction
  • Founder-led design — fast feedback loops, no committee, real decisions
  • End-to-end ownership across web, mobile, and AI workflows
  • How marketplace economics shapes design decisions
  • Real metrics ownership: you'll see daily numbers and own them

How to apply

Apply via Wellfound or email apply@chiblu.com with:

  • Your portfolio link (this is the most important part — without it we can't review)
  • A short note on why this role excites you (3-5 lines is enough)
  • One project from your portfolio you'd want to walk us through, and why
  • Your earliest start date

We read every application personally. Looking forward to hearing from you.
